Ron Davenport lives by a seasonal drainage named Minnow Creek which usually runs about a foot deep. This year, it ran over. Davenport saw something in his backyard but dismissed it as a log. The next day, he saw it flopping around. As he approached the object, he realized it was a carp - a 53-lb. carp!
Davenport told the Toledo Blade, "Last year I saw one bigger than this one. Everybody laughed." Davenport is sure they will believe him now.
The carp he found in his backyard is an amur, or grass carp - an Asian member of the minnow family. An Ohio biologist said it was the biggest he had ever seen.
