Several residents in the Top Ends neighborhoods of Australia reported a stench so overwhelming that it awakened people from their sleep! According to most calls, the smell strongly resembled rotten eggs, which is usually indicative of sulphur or natural gas. However, authorities have been unable to identify the source of the mysterious odor which covered several miles.
Theories include everything from flowering trees and area cesspits and dumps to UFO exhaust fumes. A politician from the area admitted there have been several UFO sightings in the area, but did not suggest this was actually the cause of the stench.
