Head and Hands Around Hollywood

A decapitated human head was found by dogs underneath the Hollywood sign last week. A few hours later, two hands were found. Investigators do not know if the hands were dumped with the head and moved by wild animals or the body was dumped there intentionally. The head is of a man in his 40s with salt-and-pepper hair.

Man has Double Heart Attack

A man with two hearts suffered heart attacks in both, but doctors managed to save him. A second organ is sometimes attached to a first before one is removed, and this appears to have been the case for the 71-year-old heart attack victim. Both organs suffered from a heart attack, but both were handled by doctors and the man survived. He was in stable condition at the last of this writing.

Six-Legged Lamb Born in Germany

The lamb was born in a small town in Georgia and not only has six legs, but both sets of sexual organs. The farmer says he has never heard of such a case and asked around to find that neither had anyone else. The six-legged lamb appears to have at least partial control over all six limbs, four of which are in the front. A six-legged lamb was born in Belgium in 2006.

Polish Town Awash in Blood

Residents of Koscierzyna in Poland were shocked when blood began flowing from manhole covers in the middle of the streets. The blood apparently came from a local meat processing plant, but no one is sure how the blood escaped the plant. It has since been washed from the streets and whatever caused the leak appears to have been corrected.

It Happened Again!

Lightning traveled through the phonelines and destroyed a fourth (or fifth - I've honestly lost count) computer Friday night. I went offline and IRL all weekend and actually enjoyed it, but it sucked not being able to get back online at all until last night. Then I had to spend hours updating and loading software on the backup computer I bought on the offhand chance that this might happen again.

Anyway, I am still working to get everything together on this new computer. It will be a few days, then I have to get the information off the old hard drive onto this one, which could be a few weeks. It's a madhouse here, A MADHOUSE!

Did Florida's Oldest Tree Spontaneously Combust?

Investigators ruled-out arson as a possible cause for the fire that claimed Florida's The Big Tree, saying that the fire that lead to its demise was caused from the inside. This mind-boggling predicament has some suggesting that a weeks-old lightning strike might have caused the fire, or that the swaying of the branches in the wind could have ignited a spark. The truth is that no one knows for certain what burned down The Big Tree, but it does not appear that it was a malicious attack by a human being.

The Big Tree was estimated to be 3500 years old. It has left a literal financial hole in the community where it resided, as it provided most of their tourism. A memorial is being considered.

German Ice Church

More than a century ago, believers in Mitterfirmiansreut, Germany were denied the right to build a church, so they built one out of ice and snow as "an act of provocation." The defiance started an annual ritual which was this year delayed due to unseasonably warm weather, during which a Catholic church is built of ice and snow. This year's sculpture cost nearly $200,000 and anticipates thousands of visitors before it melts.

World's Oldest Twins

The world's oldest set of living twins just turned 102-years-old on January 4th. Ena Pugh and Lily Millward have spent all 102 birthdays together and still chat on the phone nightly, despite the fact that both are hard of hearing. The twins were both presented with a copy of the Guinness Book of World Records, which contains their entry.

Club Nine

I realize that not everyone who sees this plays tabletop RPG - in fact, I would doubt that many do. However, The Weirding is largely dedicated to tabletop RPG, and I've just published a new scenario setting for the Vincent campaign for use with the Chill RPG rules set. Chill is a contemporary horror tabletop roleplaying game featuring many of the situations, creatures, and concepts we cover here on The OddBlog.

Club Nine is an important fixture in the Vincent campaign, and this page covers basically everything players need to know about the location. The entire game, and all of its elements, are fictitious but based on real life myths, lore, and legends, as well as cinematic and literary creations.

Even if you are not a tabletop RPG fan, even if you do not play Chill, you might enjoy reading about these fictional creations.

The Beyonce Fly

An Australian horsefly has been named after celebrity singer, Beyonce, thanks to the golden hairs on its back end.  The Scaptia Beyonceae is largely regarded as a pest, but is known to pollinate many plants.  It can be found in Queensland. Strangely, the fly was first discovered in 1981 -- the same year Beyonce was born.

Woman Coughs Up Tumor

A 37-year-old Coventry woman coughed-up a liver-colored piece of tissue and hurried it to her doctor. She had been diagnosed with cancer and was given only a 50/50 chance of survival, but after running tests, doctors could not find any trace of the cancer. Her doctor told her she had coughed-up her cancer. Apparently, it is rare but not unheard of.

Nepalese Yeti Finger Human

According to experts at the Edinburgh Zoo, the Yeti finger smuggled out of India in the 1950s is actually the finger of a human. DNA results prove the finger is that of a human and not some unidentified ape-man or Bigfoot creature said to roam the area from which it was taken.

Actor James Stewart played a key role in smuggling the finger out of India. He hid it in his wife's lingerie case. The finger was thought to be that of a yeti.

Ring Lost for 15 Years Discovered on Carrot

A woman who lost her ring in 1995 found it on a carrot pulled from her garden in 2011. The house was extensively searched when the ring first went missing, and the tiling was even pulled up at one point, but the ring was never found until the carrot was harvested from the garden.

The ring was found on the top of the carrot, just beneath the leaves.
