Yellowstone 'Lake Music'

On the shores of Lake Shoshone in Yellowstone National Park, there have been reports of strange music that sounds similar to that of a harp. The source of this lake music has never been identified and few of the people involved with the park are even aware that it has been reported. The latest report of the Yellowstone lake music may have been as far back as the 1930s, but it was discussed rather often in the years prior to that.

A full discussion on the lake music can be found here.

Sick

Sorry guys (and gals), but I am very sick. I live in an area where they have taken the medications off the shelves and made them unavailable, due to abuse. You are supposed to be able to get them by signing a ledger with your driver's license and personal information, but the area stores refuse to stock it because they are afraid of break-ins. Obviously, a lack of police initiative and responsibility is to blame, as there are over 31 officers in this 20-mile county, so coverage is not to blame.

Regardless, I am sick as a dog and will be back to posting regularly as soon as I can. For now, enjoy the story or two I am about to bring you, then hit the archives for several years' worth of great posts on the Unknown and the Unexplained.

Man Survives Months in Car

A Swedish man apparently survived since December 19th in his car. His vehicle somehow became covered by snow in the middle of a forest. He managed to survive the months without food, though it is assumed he ate snow for water. One expert assumed the man went into a hibernating state, consuming energy.

Valentine's Day Roleplay Lands Couple in Jail

When the cops learned that the handcuffed, naked woman in the back of a Subaru was there voluntarily, they replaced the fuzzy cuffs with real ones and hauled both her and her boyfriend off to jail for disorderly conduct.

It began when supermarket patrons called police to report what appeared to be a kidnapping in progress. When police arrived, they learned the young couple was engaged in a sexual roleplaying scenario.

Grant Wilson Leaving Ghost Hunters

Grant Wilson has said he is leaving the Ghost Hunters show to pursue other things in his personal life. The split was amicable, with SyFy executives saying the show would "reshape itself as it moves forward" in his absence. There will be no new lead to replace him on the show.

Grant Wilson co-founded TAPS with Jason Hawes back in the 1990s. Ghost Hunters has run for eight seasons on SyFy.

Don't Forget

I hope everyone had a wonderfully happy Valentine's Day. I celebrated by buying groceries because I am a lonely, old cuss. Anyway, I'm writing this to remind you to follow comments on the posts in which you're interested. If you go back through, you will notice that I often update older posts in the comments section for each one. Sometimes, readers leave interesting comments that aren't spam, too.

You do not have to be logged-in to Google or have a Blogger account to do so. Nor do you need to be logged-in to either of these services just to leave a comment. Click on Comments beneath any post to check out your many options.

We'd love to hear from you too! It can be a lonely, weird process trying to figure out what to cover and what to let slide when you don't get any feedback, so be sure to speak up. It's just one guy running this whole show, so if you want more lake monsters or Bigfoot or UFOs or whatever, you got it!

As always, thanks for reading and don't forget the archives.

'Lake Monster' Filmed in Iceland

A piece of video shows something snaking through the waters of a river in Iceland. Some say it is Lagarfljótsormurinn, a snakelike creature said to inhabit the river, while skeptics say it is merely a frozen net. The video clearly shows something that appears to be swimming upstream, against the current.

Lagarfljótsormurinn was said to have been thrown into the Lagarfljót river by a ring owner who had wrapped a worm around a piece of jewelry to make it grow. When the owner returned, the worm had grown to immense size, but not the ring, so he threw both into the river. It first appears in literature in 1345.

Apparent Suicide Found Four Years Later

A loner whose mother's death sent him into a spiral of darkness killed himself in his home in or around 2007, but his death went undiscovered until the bank foreclosed on the property. According to sources, the city continued to care for the man's lawn and tax his property, but declined to collect until his bill reached over $30,000.00. His utilities has been turned off long before and the home thought abandoned.

The man had no immediate relatives and had told friends and neighbors that he was moving to New Mexico. He is thought to have shot himself; a gun was found in close proximity to the body, which was basically a skeleton at the time it was discovered.
