Easter / Ishtar / Oster

For our Christian readers, today is a special holy day.  However, Easter was a holy day long before Christianity.  There was a captioned photo circulating across the Web the other day suggesting that Easter was originally a term for Ishtar, an ancient goddess, but an historian pointed out that Ishtar was not the origin of Easter.  It appears that Ostern is actually the Germanic pronunciation of Easter.

Happy holidays!

Possible Simian Photographed in UK

A British teenager snapped a photo of what appears to be an apelike creature running around in a public park outside her home. While speculation as to what the creature could be has been running rampant, the park is located about 10 miles away from Monkey World, a tourist trap which claims all of its animals are accounted for. It doesn't take a rocket surgeon to leap to the most likely conclusion.

Computer Woes

The new updates released by Microsoft the last few days hosed a program or two on my PC, so I'm repairing it now. It's been working since about 11:30am yesterday and is somewhere in the neighborhood of 30% complete... I got absolutely nothing done today. Yesterday, the phones were out in my area for most of the work day. I got nothing done then, either.

Malibu Horizon

While some celebrities have abused the entire notion of rehabilitation, most people realize that there is a need for drug and alcohol rehabilitation centers like Malibu Horizon alcohol treatment. While they can be expensive, many insurance plans cover drug and alcohol rehabilitation programs, and most people would be hard-pressed to put a price on their own lives. If you need help, or know someone who does, it is never too late to start looking for the right program.

Goblin Blamed for Explosion, Housefire

A traditional healer (witchdoctor) was paid $15,000 to dispose of a goblin a local businessman had captured and wanted to be rid of once it started making extreme demands. According to stories collected from the scene of an explosion, the lead witchdoctor beheaded the goblin. As the businessman went to get the money from his car, the witchdoctor called out that the goblin was "fighting back." Shortly thereafter, a mysterious blast rocked the house, damaging a dozen other homes nearby.

The goblin was apparently supposed to improve the businessman's finances. At least one eyewitness claims some victims expired due to the blast and all reports indicate that several were injured.
