A 70-year old Indian woman has given birth to twins.
Omkari Panwar insists she was only nine years old when the British left India in 1947, which would make her 70-years old; unfortunately, she does not have a birth certificate. If her age is correct, Panwar is the oldest, documented mother to have given birth.
The twins -- one boy, one girl -- were delivered by Caesarian one month early. Panwar and her husband wanted a male heir, but had two daughters. They spent their life's savings on intravenous fertilization, which begs the question: What would a boy have inherited, anyway?
The oldest woman to give birth previously was 67. Before that, a 65-year old woman gave birth. Both of these births were since the turn of the 21st-Century.
