Norwegians have risen to find thousands of earth worms across the landscape. While no eyewitnesses have seen it raining worms, there is no way they could have dug up from the ground, leading some to speculate on how they got there.
One scientist forwarded the generally-held theory of waterspouts and tornadoes launching such small animals into the sky, where they might freeze or find purchase on ice or other bodies. The earthworms in Norway were still alive but snow covering the ground can be as deep as two inches in places.
