Russian Historian Arrested for Grisly Display

Though the man has not been officially named at the time of this writing, a prominent Russian historian has been arrested by police for desecrating graves since 2010. Authorities say the 45-year-old man had dressed the remains of over 25 dead, young women in his apartment in some sort of bizarre display. He kept photographs of the women's nameplates and gravesites in order to better identify their remains and swathed them in clothes and cloth.

Those who knew him says he showed no outward signs of insanity, though he was quirky. The historian had recently written and spoken about necrology, an interest in the dead, and said that his own interest was sparked at age 12 when a funereal procession forced him to kiss the forehead of a dead 11-year-old girl.
