An Indian politician has been engaged in sacrificial practices at a 16th-Century Indian temple since his party won the latest vote.
Outside the temple in Gauhauti, the capitol of the state of Assam, animal rights activists are protesting. The politician says he has killed 200 goats and four buffalo as sacrifices to a goddess for the party's victory. He does not understand the controversy, as animal sacrifices are "an age-old practice," he says.
The sacrifices and religious rituals have been ongoing since Sunday.
